Welcome to our Airstream

We bought our Airstream in 2017 after we sold everything, left our careers in the fashion industry, and were preparing to take [HAS HEART]’s nonprofit mission across the country, state-by-state.

Before we even took possession of it, we made a few modifications. Then after our first cross-country tour, there was a long list of changes we wanted to make to further improve our full-time working and nomadic life on the road. Now, it seems each year comes with a new batch of renovations, redesigns, and updates in our pursuit of the perfect mobile lifestyle trailer that we call home for us and our cats, Luna y Sunny.

  • - Remove third couch cushion to build storage cabinet
    - Custom in-cabinet storage organizers
    - Replace pedestal with cantilever wood table and drawers on both sides
    - Replace couch cushions and upholstery
    - Upgrade cat litter box storage area with insulated foil and carpet linings

  • - Trim table size and change to a pedestal base, add a bench seat
    - Paint walls to brighten up the space
    - Replace chrome-coated faucets with matte black finishes
    - Change cabinet hardware to beech wood handles
    - Insulate and enhance cat litter box area
    - Add a slim fold-down table in the back
    - Upgrade stove and oven unit
    - Add roof vent covers
    - Install gel filters in ceiling lights for warmer lighting
    - Drill holes and add elevated slats onto the bed frame for better under-mattress ventilation

  • - Custom-made mattress by Grand Rapids Bedd Co. (Kendra’s Dad)
    - Add cat door to create litter box area under the bed with exterior access
    - Replace table, bathroom counter, and bedside tabletop with white faux marble finish
    - Remove microwave and change to storage cabinet
    - Install Eames Hang-It-All hat rack
    - Add Winegard 4G Hotspot and Wi-Fi Extender unit

It’s impossible for us not to tweak, redesign, and improve things, especially when it comes to our home on wheels. At the same time, we’re not exactly handy, so tackling any DIY jobs was a calculated risk worth taking.

The cosmetic work we researched enough to do on our own, but for the more significant renovations, we hired the experts at Woodland Airstream in Grand Rapids, MI, along with New Holland Overland along the lakeshore.
